Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Support Group

I have been taking probiotics for some time along with diet (food) changes and it helps. However, recent changes in the brand of probiotic I have taken for years, it gave me horrible stomach gas and cramps. So I did some online research and see that the type of bacteria in Align is the only one that research shows has any affect on IBS. So I switched to it two days ago and seem to be doing well.

IBS is so different for everyone. If I stay away from dairy, sugar , cold drinks, and hard to digest foods, along with the probiotics, I'm fine. For me anxiety and food set my IBS-D off. It take s along time and a lot of trial and error to find what works.

While the Align is expensive (about $1.00 a pill) it is still cheaper than some of the antidepressents that my doctor put me on ($4.00 a pill) that make me so sick I missed work. I'll try anything...as long as it makes me better and not worse.

As a followup to my last post...The Aligh gave me such terrible gas and cramps that I quit it and went back to my other probiotic products. I was surprised since it is advertised for helping. My normal probiotic Jarro from the health food store costs about the same. I'm now thinking that something else was going on because the regular probiotic was also bothering me and now it's not.

Nothing ever seems to be normal with this IBS stuff, does it.

I tried to search the. Internet as here in my country they don't have. This product. Unfortunately the sites I tried to buy from have no. Import to my ountry. I feel bad don't know what to do. I can't go at all with no. Laxatives or stool softeners when I have an attack. Attacks take weeks with me. Do you know a site that can import align with courier to malta? Got tired of. Searching.

This is working great for me. I've been on it for about 4-5 months now. I rarely if ever have the pain, gas, bloating that I had before. My system is moving regular again! I'll pay $30 over the counter any day compared to the $92 a month co-pay that I was with the Amitiza that the doctor put me on that did not help! I hope it continues to work.

I'm on my second monthly dose and still haven't seen any results. I've been diagnosed with IBS due to intestinal bacterial overgrowth. My symptoms, major bloating whenever I eat, plus abdominal pain and gas don't seem to be responding so far to this probiotic. The GI doctor seems to think I need to give it more time.

In addition to taking Align, for which my GI doctor gave me a $10 off coupon, I had been taking a different probiotic (forgot the name of) prior to, which was much less expensive. So far, I haven't seen any difference between the two.

Look at all the probiotics available in your store before you buy, or buy again. My doc was most interested in my taking one containing b. bifidus. There is at least one brand that is $8! Another thing I have learned and done (when I can) is drink Kefir and Kombucha.

Kefir resembles a fruit smoothie and Kombucha is Chinese fermented tea--not tasty, but it makes you feel AMAZING! There is a flavor/brand which concentrates digestive enzymes. Enzymes also help with digestive problems, GERD, IBS, Celiac, etc.

I am also very gluten intolerant/sensitive, so any supportive thing helps!!

Whoops! Forgot to explain that Kefir and Kombucha contain probiotics.

Can you buy it online? Not amazone or the align.com site as I tried already when I placed the order it said it is restricted to certain places and my country happened to be in the restricted area. Any sites that. Allow align import to malta? I tried local pharmacies we have no acess to align.
