I have been dealing with IBS-C for a number of years. At least, that I what I was diagnosed with by my GP, I have never been to a gastro. Every month or two, I have a bout of severe stomach pains/cramps, nausea and diarrhea (sometimes vomiting). It usually lasts for 8 hours or until I am completely cleaned out. It starts out as regular hard, dry stools and by the end of the 8 hours, it is just water. It seems to be triggered by fatty or spicy foods but I'm really not sure. The cramps are so bad that I have cold sweat and almost pass out at times. Is this still consistent with IBS?
Would it be worth getting a food allergy test? I have tons of environmental allergies and a shellfish allergy. Would I go to my allergist or a gastro for the food allergy test? Thanks! Posted on 09/14/09, 10:09 pm |
