Hello - I normally visit this site for Ulcerative Colitis information, because that is my diagnosis and I am currently in a flare-up. However my Dr mentioned that I might be dealing with IBS as well. I looked it up, and it does make sense because I have been under a lot of stress lately and I read that it can be brought on by stress/emotional problems (as can the UC flare). It seems like my main symptoms from the IBS would be these contractions I get - like I have to go so bad, but only mucous comes out. Also before this flare-up I was always either constipated or had diarrhea.....but I never sought treatment for it. I am on a pretty limited diet right now as well. Can anyone tell me if these contractions could be part of the IBS - because they aren't really a symptom of UC. What are other symptoms? Treatments? Thanks much!!!

Sounds like the same thing i get. Almost like your having a baby and its timed contractions? But ya sounds like it could be. With mine the pain is so bad that sometimes i think i am going to die! I was put on anixety meds to try to keep the collon claim. Also switching foods and drinks. For me i cant drink caffeine or i will get flair ups. Same with a lot of carbs.
My symptoms are just like u said. Constipated or diarrhea. Cramps from the devil. Mucous and sometimes blood.

sounds a possibility of endometriosis gone through the bowel wall
