Need help maintaining the IBS diet but can't buy organic cuz I can't afford it.

" IMHO organic food is a nice to have, but not required. I don't think anyone gets IBS simply because they eat non organic food -- It's because they have a bad diet and because their doctors give them antibiotics which screws up the digestive system.

It allows you to track each element of your diet to ensure that you get balanced nutrition. It gets it's info from the USDA databases and has thousands of commonly consumed foods. I think I would have recovered quicker from IBS-D if I had this software a couple of years ago.

" I would just go to the best grocery store where you can find very fresh produce. In my town, it is Albertson's. Fresh is the key word, and includes good quality. The health food stores are way too expensive most of the time, I agree! I just started taking Align for IBS. It is over the counter and is $30 for 28 pills, one pill per day. Takes 2-3 weeks for results. Also, eat lots of oatmeal! I switched to Soy milk from dairy milk and I love the Soy milk, Silk! Thought I'd hate it. It lasts a long time, so you can get more than one quart at a time. Good luck with this. HUG! "

" Oatmeal needs to be soaked overnight with water and a spoonful of yogurt to neutralize the phytic acid. Otherwise it will block absorption of minerals into your body. If you soak it, oatmeal can be a good food. If you're too lazy to soak it, skip the oatmeal in favor of another breakfast. "
