My urologist has ordered (or requested prior authorization) from my insurance company to begin instillations of heparin and lidocaine.
Does this sound familiar? Anyone who has tried this specific mix?

" Yes, I've received this combination of instillations years ago. They did help, however, in my case, my insurance would only authorize just a few so I don't think I got the full benefit. "

" This question can be easily answered if you look at the 800 hundred profiles on here. You will see that approximately 40% of people had no relief, 40% had some relief for about 1 year but over time the relief declined and they no longer worked and 20% have not tried or don't have insurance, this is why it is so important to attend PT, Aqua Therapy for pelvis and Fibro is excellent and you can do pt at home once the insurance runs out or if you don't feel good enough to go out. Cognitive therapy and PT , Yoga relaxation therapy work great.

We do not no the long term damage that instill may cause especially for you young girl who have not had children and may want them.............if they don't know the cause or cure...............then how is it possible to know the long term affect of these therapies.

Wishing everyone a pain free day. "

" I've used lidocain and heparin for a long time and it helped until recently, when I started having more pain from using it. My doctor said to stop for awhile, so I'm kind of wondering if my body has just rejected it after all these years. "

" It is a really hard thing to explain. For me it doesn't take the pain away. It just makes it more comfortable. I'm not sure if that makes sense. They do help a lot of people, so it's definitely something worth trying. I hope it helps you :o). "

" Hi,

I've tried these kind of installations before but unfortunately, they didn't help me. I've heard that they work for a lot of IC patients though so it's worth a shot. Good luck and I hope that the installations work for you. Please keep us posted. :) "

" It took awhile to get to the point I could update you....but I am thankful to share how astonished I was at how well my body responded the very first day! I didn't want to believe it - I was afraid I would be discouraged when the pain came back.....but I am at the present time one of the very lucky ones who is benefiting from this mild dosage of heparin and lidocain. It keeps things soothed for 3-4 days at a time.

Putting the medicine directly on the wound makes some sense! And is very soothing for my case. The idea of catherizing was scary for me, of course, but that part is only uncomfortable for about 30 seconds!

I am continuing these treatments - maybe twice a week for the time being - and the doctor hopes to be building upon the layers internally each time to strengthen and be able to taper off the treatment in a few weeks. I give thanks to God for this amazing reprieve I've been granted ...for as long as it lasts!

Thanks to each of you who shared here and who have also tried the treatment at some time or other.....your experience helped me. And I am thankful to have made some good friends via this sharing. Thank you. "
