Did you know that the reason why we are beginning to see more research for IC and CPP is due to the fact that persons being diagnosed with IC has triple and our wonderful drug companies and government see it now as a potential profit. I am pleased that more research is being done but it really upsets me to think that profit is more important than trying to find a way to relieve a human being pain.
Did you know that the process of getting new treatments approved is a long and expensive task with several studies, trials, and everything else that’s involved. Did you know Interstitial Cystitis patients currently only have one FDA-approved treatment method to rely on for their IC symptoms and that is Elmiron, which was approved back in 1996. It’s time we have more options available to us. Did you know that I would like to stick a red hot poker up every persons ass who is profiting from pharmacutical companies and lets not forget our elected goverment officials. I seriously want to grap hold of the presidents private parts and sqeeze until he want to die..........! I get so disgusted when I see people with IC having to go in front of a judge to basically beg for there disability, for health insurance. Truth I am grateful to have a roof over my head, a warm bed to sleep and a husband who supports and loves me but imagine having IC and being homeless in pain and nowhere to go, no one to turn to and nothing for pain. The fact that more and more people are being diagnosed doesn't make me happy because this is an ugly, painful disease but it does make me feel good that people are being heard, taken seriously and as the numbers grow and we look more Profitable we get more funding for research! I agree that the pharmaceutical companies are only interested in profit. However, our current president has placed more focus on our broken health care system that anyone else. He is trying to fix it with heavy resistance from all sides. So don't attack the one person who is actually trying to help us. Now those congressmen, the ones who take money from ins companies and pharmaceutical companies, squeeze their private parts all you want. They deserve it. lol

Please excuse my comment about the President....I should have said it better....I get on a roll sometimes.......lol.........what I should have said is that I wish there was a way of communicating to the new president how IC patients suffer both sexes so he thinks of us when he is reforming our healthcare system.
ICers get hit with expenses from every angle, lost wages, loss of employment due to pain, medication cost, PT cost, massage, accupunture, the special foods we have to purchase, products. and so forth............... This is the reason why so many ICers are in pain because they don't have the financial means or resources to get pay for services or food that would help relieve symptoms.

doctors do not know what to do when we present with this pain to them. It took 3 years, gynocologists, urologists,and gps and no one ever could figure it out. I figured it out for them and they went ah! I receive treatments now and am so much better. 90% better.

I am on a patient assistance program through J&J that give me my Elmiron for free because I can't afford it otherwise. Start the diet, get the drug for free. Definitely worth the pain in the ass and hassle of getting the coverage! As for the more research for us...Thank god. Increase in people with IC...that ****ing sucks. My thoughts on the matter: I think all the hazardous materials we put in our foods, cleaning products, and everything else is causing this "epidemic" So we need to buy organic and eco-friendly products! ok, rant over. :-D Cyn www.livetotalwellness.com/cyn
