I dont eat much cake or cookies or candy on a daily basis. Every now and then though I do fancy some of it. This weekend, I ate homemade oatmeal raisen cookies and had a flare within hours of it. I am wondering if anyone has found any connection between sugar brown and white with flairs of their IC. the only other ingridents were flour, baking soda, baking powder, and oats and raisins. These are my favorite kind of cookies:(

I personally have found no difference in
brown or white. However of the two, brown is suppose to be easier on you.Do do think it could have been the raisins?

The flare most likely from the what we call the W ingredients.
Wheat, White Flour and or sugar, wheat in the oats. If I make Oatmeal cookies I use gluten free oats, brown sugar, unsweetened applesauce, and a gluten free flour, etc....and no flare. The only flares that I have had in the last 4 years where right after taking antibiotics. Truth be told that I wasn't much of a baker before adopting the no W diet but once I started baking, learning and experimenting I felt better and I found out that I love to bake. white sugar isn't good for anyone, we all know that, also bacteria feeds off of sugar and hence causes inblances in the body.....which isn't good for ICers.

Can you explain the no W diet? Is it just no Wheat or White flour? Or is the more to it?

I know I for sure can't have too much sugar at once and I definitely can't have raisins... so maybe that was it

You could always subsitute honey or pear juice in your cookie recipe. I don't think I ever had a problem with sugar but I stopped using it and use honey.

Also you could try a different kind of flour like rice flour, potatoe flour, oatmeal flour.
I have a group on here for IC diet and recipes. I am starting to add some recipes from a book I own called A taste of the good life. I will try to look up some cookie recipes. You are welcome to join the group and add to it. http://www.dailystrength.org/group...

A lot of IC patients have allergies to dairy and grains.. ever since I have gone gluten and dairy free I have been feeling great! You should try baking with a gluten free recipe or look for some gluten free cookies in you nearest health food store! They are really good and I have had no problem with them when I had problem with other cookies. Just an idea! Good luck!

I can't tolerate raisins at all.. maybe it was that? I have to buy breads and everything like that without raisins in the ingredients or I am in massive amounts of pain.
