Has anyone tried Biofreeze (an ointment applied to the skin for arthritis-type pain) and had a FLARE? It burned intensely till I showered it off.
I had a massage yesterday with that applied to finish up--and today I'm back on Vicodin because of bladder pain unrelieved by pyridium. Could the massage alone have caused a flare? Any ideas? Thanks. Posted on 07/29/08, 06:07 pm |

Hello, I use Biofreeze obsessively every night, due to my Lyme disease, I have severe athritis like pains that pain killers and ibuprofen will not relieve, I don't know if it helps at all, but it feels good to me when I am sore.
I have never noticed it affecting my bladder flare ups, I do know that when I get a massage, I feel so cruddy the next day, my bladder, stomach, flue like symptoms, because massages release so much toxins from your body. this could be causing your pain. Did the Biofreeze burn your skin or did you mean your bladder/urine burned? Perhaps you have a skin allergy to it, I know my son has eczema, and when I put Biofreeze on his skin, it burns bad. Hope that helps.
