As for the Flomax, It has saved my life. After one pill I could pee much much better. My symptoms were and still are frequency (this was the worst), urgency, pain, throbbing, interrupted steam, trouble started to pee, and pain. I would say most of those symptoms have improved about 80%. Definately give it a try. I have been suffering with those symptoms for over 3 years and I take a little pill and it is an amazing difference. Some people who are allergic to Sulfa cannot take Flomax. Although I am allergic to Sulfa and I am not allergic to Flomax. It honestly is shocking that it helps so much and how long it took to get immediate relief with the first pill. I went through absolute hell and 4 urologists but finally I can go to the bathroom less often.
Definately the Amitriptyline is a nightmare drug I recommend NOT taking ANY tricyclic antidepressants. They switched me to Nortriptyline which doesn't help much and is also making me gain weight. I was told about a medication called Neurontin whihc is instead of the antidepressants. You cannot take them together. I will try that one soon. You can't suddenly stop antidepressants you will have withdrawal although you haven't been on it that long. I would taper it slowly but you gotta ask the doctor. I hope that helped, Stephanie
