My urologist recently gave me above to relieve my symptoms when I have alot of pain, I am not big on drugs and don't take anything usually, as the best medicine for me is lots of water to dilute the urine and calming teas. Just to be cautious as I am, I checked into this on the web. I found a website: worstpills.org and it said "DO NOT USE - questionable effectiveness, causes anemia & liver damage and cancer in animals" OH MY GOD, I was mortified. My doctor gave me this - you can guess where the pills have ended up. You be your own judge but wanted people to know, always look into what it is you are taking. Any comments?
Thanks

" I couldn't live without this drug. I take it once a day typically, along with another drug, hydroxizine. Together, they work wonders. I can take another dose of the Pryridium and 2 more of the hydroxizine. I've been taking both for more than 6 years. No side effects, no anemia or cancer and liver is checked regularly (as should be with many meds) and I am thankful that there is anything that will work. My mother had this condition as well and was one of the first people treated with DMSO. Her doctors didn't want to do it as it was only experimental at the time, but she MADE them because there was nothing else. I remember riding the 1-1/2 hours to the doctors office and her crying the whole way. Horribly painful if not treated. That worked for her. Reduction of stress is key. There is a genetic component, so inform any siblings or children who may be prey to this awful condition. Good luck to you. By the way, I hope you disposed of your unwanted medication properly. Any unused pharmaceuticals should never be flushed into the sewage system or put into land fills. Take to authorized recycling agency only. "

" I am currently about 16 weeks pregnant and pyridium is the only thing that is safe for me to take during the pregnancy. I have taken pyridium since I was in high school and have yet to have any effects. Without it I don't know how I would make it through this pregnancy as the only other thing that works for my EXTREME pain is percocet which has major side effects for me and my baby. If you can work through IC without having to take meds then that is wonderful, but when that doesn't work these medications can be a complete life saver. There are many IC people that have commited suicide due to the frustration of it and having this options available provides a lot of help and hope. "

" I took one pyridium and slept for the entire afternoon. Since visiting worstpills.org I have thrown them out. I also checked some of the other meds I have been given and was shocked. Do they think I have a doctor living with me in case I have side effects? I hope you are doing well. Have a great day! "
