Advice:
can't find a doctor..

i just got home from my urologist, who has decided that there is nothing else he can do for me. he's referring me to a different doctor, one that is just a family doctor.

i just dont understand why he'd switch me? you think that a urologist would know more about the problem then a family doctor..

i'm completely lost and i'm losing faith in the doctors in my area. my urologist said the main reaon he wanted to switch doctors was so i could get a referral to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota.. he just didn't explain anything to me.

i don't really know what to do about my doctor situation, and there's no way we could pay for the mayo clinic right now. i dont know what else to do.

" Steffi,
My advice to you is to read everything you
can about this disease.Go to ICnetwork.com
Maybe get some books from the library,
Continue with this support group.Educate
yourself.I can honestly say that I have learned
how to cope with this disease by doing my own
research and reading what a few of the IC'ers
on the website have to offer.Hopefully down
the road you can find a medical professional
to help you, whether it be a uro/gyn or even
a good Physical Therapist.
Good luck and please try to stay calm as
stress is one of the biggest enemies of the
disease! "

" I wish I could help help you find someone who would really care and help you find a doctor that would work on your behalf. Unfortunately, I think it is a real pain in the @$$ to find a good doctor. Most of us are still looking.

But I agree with LynnAnn. Read everything you can get your hands on! Read all the self help books you can.

Good luck

" If there is any way you can get referred to a pain specialist that is familiar with IC that would help. That has really helped me. "

" Hi Steffi,
My first urologist did the same thing. Can you say JERK?!? I got a referral to an IC knowledgable uro from my primary care doc. A great source for you is to go to the IC Network website. They maintain a list of doctors who specialize in IC.

Good luck and don't give up!
Melanie "
