This is my 10th month actively suffering from insomnia. Actively is define by the anxiety suffered everytime I dont get enough sleep.
How long does this phase last for you long term sufferers? Will the old days ever come back, where I would lose some sleep and just make it up when I can? Posted on 10/29/09, 11:10 pm |

Onething you need to know is that one can never get back sleep once it's lost. You can take all the naps in the world, but it will never give you back what you have lost.
I have had it for a very long time, but it also runs in my family too, and I was put on Trazadone. This helps mee very much, is not addictive in anyway, and just a very good treatment for insomnia. Also exercise, using tanning salon's really helps me to get rid of lots of negative energy, your diet plays a big factor too. What have you tried so far to do to combat this? Debbie

Hi,
It's me again, and I forgot to say anything about the awful anxiety I do get if I don't sleep. I feel like I have jet lag or something, and anxiety big time. It has gotten better lately as I know I will go back to sleeping, and I can alwayw increase the Trazadone. That is another great thing about it too. If you do wake up in the middle of the night, your allowed to take another pill. Hope this helped some. Debbie

I have a whole bunch of pills in my cabinet, which I have not tried as yet(ambien etc.). Taking pills add to my anxiety, thats why they just sit there but I will definetly have a look at trazadone, since its non-addictive.

JamRoc,
Just to let you know Ambien is not addictive either. Where did you hear that from? There is a hughe difference between addiction, and needing something to help us function. I am in recovery, and had a failed back surgery that has left me in severe pain. They put me on pain meds for this 4 years ago, but I have never ever taken more than 2 pain pills each am. I am allowed more. I had to have my therapist explain to me the difference of how I was depentent on this medication in order to allow me to just function, there is a hughe difference in this, and addiction. If your getting anxiety just thinking about taking anything to help you I would look into that with someone, as that is a way to increase your anxiety. I have to take something for my anxiety, and for a long time would just deprive myself, and just suffer as again I didn't want to get addicted, but I only take one pill eachday, so again there is a big difference. Good Luck in what ever you do decide. Debbie
