Middle of the Night

In general, I am sleeping better these days.

However, now I'm waking up in the middle of the night, typically after about 3-4 hours, and I'm wide awake. I'm sure this is tied to my sleep cycle in some way, but often I have to take a bit of Trazadone to slide back into sleep. As I get closer to trying to get pregnant, I want to avoid taking meds as much as possible.

Tomorrow is Sunday, so it's not a big deal that I'm up at 4 a.m. on my computer, and I cannot express how grateful I am to even get a few hours of sleep. Still, this seems to be happening more frequently.

Anyone have any up-in-the-middle-of-the-night tips?

" Try infomercials. You are probably like wtf. But I have major problems with getting up in the middle of the night. And I will turn on the tv to some boring shopping channel and after a while I will just drift off. I don't know why, I just know it does it for me. "

" Have you tried Melatonin. I take 100mg of Trazadone to get me to sleep. I normaly sleep only 3 hours too then am awake until 6 a.m.
I started to try to take only 3mg of melatonin to get me back to sleep. that way unlike trazadone (taking another) it doesn't make me drowsy or sluggish the next day.
Plus the meletonin is all natural something our bodies make naturally and sometimes can become depleted. I have recently moved up to 5mg.
Good luck. "

" Yes, this happened to me and it's very annoying. For me, I fixed this by taking Ribose+Whey Protein+Acelty-L-Carnitine+Choline/Inositol. (you may as well take a multi-vitamin along with it and take it in the morning)

What happens is that I was low on these vital "stuff" (not sure what to call it). This "stuff" is required for your body to create ATP. Your body/brain breaks down ATP to ADP to Adenosine.

When you have enough Adenosine collected in your brain, your brain will get tired and want to go to sleep. The more Adenosine you have, the more and longer you will sleep.

When you are sleeping, your brain/body converts Adenosine back to ADP to ATP. This is the cycle. As you can see, if you don't have enough Adenosine, your brain will wake up and you must burn the ATP again to get enough Adenosine for your brain to go back to sleep.

Ambein mimicks Adenosine..... no wonder Ambein knocks you out?!

Caffein on the other hand plugs up the receptors where the Adenosine is supposed to plug in to. No wonder caffein keeps you awake?!

After 3 months, I can finally sleep for over 6hrs at a time. Good luck to you. Well, at least now, you know why you can only sleep 3 to 4 hours at a time. :) "
