Hi,
I've just joined this group. I'm 49 & have had insomnia since I was a child. I have much trouble falling asleep & staying asleep. Does anyone know of a med for it, that you can take every night long term? They seem to have a med for everything these days except for long term sleep problems!

" I have been on Trazadone for years. It does great at at least helping me fall asleep. I also take 3mg of Melatonin you can buy over the counter at the vitamin store or grocery. "

" I tried melatonin, ativan, trazodone, thorazine, valium, klonopin and nothing worked.. then one day my new psych gave me a low dose of Seroquel and it has worked magic. I think you can take it long term, but I'm not 100% positive... good luck! "

" I have been taking Trazodone for years. It's an old anti-depressant that is very sedating. So sedating that it's only used as a sleep aid. I swear by it. "
