Won't you agree?
It's just gone 3am here in outback Australia, this little ghost town is quiet as a mouse, everyone, I'd imagine, is sound asleep, except for me.
I fear night time, because I know I will be up all night, alone, unable to sleep.
Part of me wants to go and wake my partner up, for company, but I know that won't be fair, so I don't.
I look at the clock, far too often.
And I wonder why.
Why me?

" hug with a twist, I have been awake most of the night all my life. have you ever listened to the sounds of silence in the wee hours of morning? while you are awake you can plan a cookie bake with you and your family, read a good book, Clan of the Cave Bear, book one, two, three, four and five. start a happy thoughts journal, write down five things to be grateful for. Read Kuma Sutra, and practice what you read. you are awake and blessed. a big hug from jzldy I am 67, and I sleep maybe 3 hours a night, but I garden, paint, liste n to books, write shows for my line dance group to do, and I'm trying to increase my "pecking" speed on my laptop. Today I saw an electric piano I"ll get for xmas, and i purchased a "wi" go cart game. so much for me, get up and play, relax, quiet your mind, and create the new day before you, this is your book, write whatever you want in it. jzldy "

" I just want to say that jzldy's post is utterly inspirational, wow! It should be copied and pasted onto all of our boards for us to read when we're feeling that horrible sense of desperation when we feel at our loneliest on those long nights we all suffer.

So TwistdSista, even though I am nowhere near the thoughts mentally that jzldy has learnt throughout her life (which is amazing!), I've definately been trying to get there over the years. I try so hard to embrace the insomnia when I can, obviously there are some nights when I'm so lonely and frustrated that I find it very difficult to think positive. But things aren't always hopeless, for example I'm going through one of my book phases and I have 13 on the go by the side of my bed right now. I read and watch the sun come up and I do love listening to the birds.
I'm wish I could be more helpful bit I just wanted to say, I'm with you

" I read in the hope that my eyes will start to burn in the hope that I may drop off to sleep!!
Never works though. And cos I'm reading so much, I'm going through all my favourite books and when I start to get to the end I start a new book. Bizarre I know but a habit I've always had!!
Just wish it did help me sleep, on the up side I absorb a lot of knowledge on those long nights! "
