I know I need surgery for my right inguinal hernia, but I cannot take time off work for at least one month. I thought I could make it but with the onset of a cold and the heavy cughing and sneezing associated The pain has got worse, yesterday I could only stand for ten minutes at a time. It is better today. I am wondering if anyone knows if any of the hernia supports/belts offer any relief to keep me going? I am a 56 yo mechanic and this hernia si making itself a nuisance. I also feel a bit of a fraud in that as soon as I sit down or better lay down I am ok.

New Member Send a PM Give a Hug hi buddy,,,if you read my posts you will see some of the things i used..my hernia started out very small also, at first i used an ace bandage wrapped around belly and crease in my leg.. i would wrap my self up every morning and was able to function for over 9 months this way.. after about 2 months i purchased from an on-line store a pair of compression shorts... it was like the shorts bike riders used but even stronger... i would switch -one day bandage -one day shorts... then i also started wearing a hernia brief strap..it is the soft kind with a harder pressure point that you can adjust over the hernia..........i was able to function for about 9 months until i wanted,,repeat..want to have the surgery..every thing was just becoming to much of a hassle,i wanted it fixed. look up all these things on line and see what works best..phil
