3 DAYS POST OP - 2 HERNIA'S REPAIRED

I'm 3 days post op from a Inguinal and umbilical hernia repair. Whewwww. I thought I was one who could handle pain, but not this! What I wasn't prepared for.... - obviously the pain & swelling. I have started walking better (yesterday and of course w/ the help of pain killers) and did steps by day 2 - no choice in that matter. Did anyone experience some swelling? My stomach looks like I'm 3 mo. pregnat and where the inguinal was repaired is really swollen too. That pain is the WORST. The umbilical - is "there", but that groin one... Now I've never had a C-section, so I don't know what to compare too, but this stinks. When does one start to feel normal again?

" hi, i had the same thing. an inguinal and umbilical at the same time, which was 2.5 yrs ago. i just recently had the other side inguinal hernia repaired. and i can tell you the first dual surgery took so much longer to recover from. i was not able to move much for a few days, so much pain to even try and pee. with my latest inguinal hernia, i was up walking around the same day of the surgery. plenty of pain but it wasnt even close to when i had the two done. so i think the umbilical hernia actually affects you a lot, even though it seems like its the groin hernia that is hurting the most, as that is what i thought too back then. " I have three hernias; and I really prefer an answer by someone that's had one major surgery prior (several months or so) before their hernia surgery. Everyone's different but my surgery on ventral and femoral, and incisional surgery comes two months after renal surgery ( very major surgery). Mine will be around the end of June. So, after 5. Laproscopic abdo cuts, now to have a long cut ; I'm not hspir but it has to be done as I am miserable NOT from the partial kidney removal but from the hernia pain .
Anyone here, a lady, deal with two surgeries, one being hernia, close to the other? How did you heal?
( Also have old incisions from 4 other surgeries :-(
Thanks "

" Thanks for the wishes, SaberOnyx, and your post helped me, but I've got some extended medical issues, that I'll just have to ask my doctor about, and so, either way, I'll be having surgery on the hernias soon. They have been more of a pain in the neck than even the back injury. Oh well, that's life, and thanks again! "
