" if given a choice have the surgery done as an inpatient, that way they keep the pain meds flowing. Too soon to tell if it works, but they used a double sided mesh for the inguinal repair. First night i was constantly heading to restroom to relieve myself. Pain got worse with each trip "

" The mesh was being rejected by my body at the umbilical site. On October 15 they had to remove the mesh in it's entirety, stich the hernia closed and removed a significant amount of damaged tissue around the navel. I t will be at least a month before I have Healed. "

" I had my inguinal hernia surgery on 18 December, it all went well and I have spent the last 2 weeks recovering.
I am not feeling too bad, I seem to be doing quite well.
But the wound area is still swollen and sometimes feels sore. There is no bad pain, just a slight pain when I move in certain ways (e.g. bending).
I am not back at work yet, probably I will return next week. "

" I had inguinal left side hernia surgery on 1/9/08 and today I am in constant pain from the testicle to the incision. The doctor used a cone and patch. I am an avid cyclist racer and active athlete. Full recovery is suppose to be 6 weeks, so I have 2 weeks yet to go. However, because of the constant pain the doctor is now recommending pain managment/blockers specialist as of my last visit yesterday. My pain prior to surgery was minimal to none and just a slight hernia that for several reasons I wanted taken care of and surgery is the only way to repair it. the doctor recomended the surgery now as opposed to waiting for a potential strangulation. I did little research and wish I had. i suggest reviewing all of the options including Tension Free and less invasive laposcropy. The doctor tells me this happens to 20% of the hernia surgerys and can last 3-6 months. Evidently it is nerve realted. I have read that the cones or plug can move causing pain. If anyone has any suggestions or hernia specialist in the Kanasas City area I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks, "

" My husband had left inguinal hernia surgery today. He had a large defect that had been present for 2 years, but in the last few weeks it had gotten much worse. His Dr. used mess to repair the defect. His Dr. also told him that had he waited any longer he could have lost his testicle. I am sorry about all of the problems you have had and hope you are feeling much better. "
