My OB/Gyn and his wife used that test for both pregnancies. She swears by it.

Can I ask what the saliva test is? :-)

I bought one of those ovulation microscopes- total crap! I'll send it to you if you want so you won't waste your money... I also had no luck charting BBT.

It was when I bought urine ovulation test strips that I finally saw that I did in fact ovulate, and I got pregnant! I miscarried, but still it was the first time.

i just got my Mini Ovulation Microscope today and will be starting to track tomorrow. I'm hoping it's not total crap LOL but the pee sticks don't work for me i think bc i have pcos. i'm going to try bbt charting along with this new saliva test.

tgirl, the saliva test is a way to track ovulation by using a drop of saliva. because we have more salt in our bodies when we ovulate the saliva will dry in a fern like pattern due to the salt crystallizing during the time we are ovulating.

I have been using the fertile focus since June. I LOVE it! I was thrilled to find that I AM ovulating!!!! It is simple to use and I test several times a day if I feel like it! I am still fascinated by the change in the patterns! I have PCOS and was afraid I didn't even ovulate, and was in fact assured that the OPK wouldn't even show me any results. It does and it is fantastic. At only $30 it was well worth it for peace of mind. Being a bit of a tard when it comes to pissing on a stick, it has been perfect for me.
no BFP yet, but at least I know my cycle is getting back on track!

I was just telling a friend on here that I am doing this as well. I am using dollar store OPK's because I am away from home and have TONS there so I didnt wanna spend a whole lot of money on more when I'm only doing this for piece of mind, knowing I prolly wont ovulate until I get home...anyway, that said, I wasn't sure if the dollar store OPK's would be very good (although I know they are all the same and are federally regulated) so I also bought a little picture frame (for the glass- instead of an actual microscope slide) and a magnifying glass.

Totally works. I tried this last month on the day my CM presented to see if it worked. And DAMNED if it doesn't work!!! It's so cool. I didnt have glass to use at home, so i just spit on a wine glass and let it dry. Needless to say it slid down the curve of the glass and dried, but i got a magnifier out and i could TOTALLY see the "Ferning".

I love the book Taking Charge of your Fertility. I also tried BBT which didnt work bc of my weird sleep schedule and sinus problems (sleeping with my mouth open or nose breathing seemed to affect my BBT depending on the rooms temp too) So I was super excited that the Ferning spit worked :)

My "kit" cost me $2.00 at the Dollar Tree. Glass and a magnifying glass (in the kids isle)

I have the saliva test kit and it works, it does show when you are ovulating, you can see the fern like pattern. I had to do IVF to get pregnant though because of my age, but the saliva test definitely does show when you ovulate - cheaper than the sticks you uriniate on too.

I've tried the Julia microscope but can't get it to work!
the bit where you put the sample is so small that you either can't get enough onto it or the spit pools and bubbles or doesn't dry!
i got frustrated and gave up!
but maybe a different make would work.
