They do work. But you need to track your ovulation at least 3 times a day for your correct surge. The best way to know when you ovulate is to start tracking after your period is over until you get a positive same colour test line as the control line. I suggest buying them online as they are much cheaper (www.earlypregnancytest.com)
take one at 11:00am, one at 3pm and 1 at 7pm each day. This really does let you know when you are surging. I get my LH surge on day 9 of my 27 day cycle and I ovulate on day 11 ( this is the day my egg drops). I hope this helps,, please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for the online tip. I had no clue and at the store they are about 20 dollars for 7 sticks do you use the Clear Blue? If you don't mind me asking if you get you LH surge on day 9 are you counting from the first day of your cycle or starting from the day you end you period and 9 days from that. Sorry I am new to the whole fertility thing and everything is kinda confusing. I thought your LH surge ment you were ovulating? So you get the LH surge and then ovulate about 2 days after?

i had all the signs i was ovulating too. my husband and i tried for 7 monthes to get pregnant and we finally did but the OPK was not the reason. i basically wasted my money on those things and the thing that worked for me was taking my temp every morning.

You are right. The clearblue easy fertility monitor was expensive and we ttc for a year while using it. It showed that I had my estrogen and LH surge every month, but AF came every month as well even though we BD based on the monitor. We are seeking professional help this month and I am not buying one more box of the test sticks for the monitor.

Yes, we got pg one the third month we used one. It ended in MC, but it still worked. We used the monitor from Clear Blue Easy. Expensive, but easy to use and reliable.

Oh I so feel your pain. I even have the same book! I just read it this month and found it to be very empowering. I am taking basal body temps and I am finally secure in the fact they are telling me something! The OPKs don't work for me either. In like 6 months of testing I only have had one positive result and yet I do have all of the other symptoms of ovulation like sore breasts, bloating etc. We have been ttc for one year and we are having no luck. I have one child already but she desperatly needs a sib as she doesn't even have any first cousins. That book is really cool by the way.
