What to expect?

I've officially made an appt. this morning with the reproductive specialist my OB referred us too. The appt. is with a Dr. at UCLA Fertility Center / Harbor UCLA (we live in So. Cal. obviously.)

I'm writing to see if any of you ladies might share with me what to expect on our first consultation? Also, is it likely the Dr. would want to do all of the same tests we've had all over again? (for ex., sperm samples are probably a given, but what about all of my blood work, examine my tubes, etc?)

Our appt. is scheduled for a week from today (Monday), and just looking for any info you might be willing to share. Thanks so much...

" I've been to two different RE's

Both did a consult as to why we were there (I have PCOS with a history of miscarriage).

Once they did that they did blood work, and a transvaginal ultrasound.

Then we went back and discussed the preliminary findings.

One doctor was HUGE on IVF where as the other one was big on trying IUI's first. If your doctor pushes IVF first I would honestly get a second opinion!

Good luck! "

" I took copies of all the tests my gyno had done (sperm analysis, ovulation hormone test, etc.) to my first appointment and my RE did not have us repeat them. Actually she did do the sperm analysis over b/c it had been over a year. She ordered the AMH Fertility Test, anti-mullerian hormone fertility testing which gives an estimate of your remaining egg supply. She scheduled an HSG which looks at your tubes. She asked all about our history. I think that was it. After we got those results then she talked to us about treatment options. Hope that helps!! Good luck!! "

" I never thanked you ladies for your responses, so thank you so-very-much!!!

MAKNZ...taking all of my paperwork was GREAT advice and thank you for that. We met with our Dr. on Monday, and he said he would do IUI for us this weekend (we went ahead and did another round of clomid with my OB as we weren't sure when we'd be able to see the RE. It turns out the timing was perfect!)

Hoping and praying for a miracle...thank you for your support! "
