hello everyone! I am new to this site and I and I stumbled upon it when i was searching the internet for some "comforting stories" that could ease my depressed mood at the moment. My husband and I have been trying for about a year now with no luck on our own so we decided to consult an infertility doctor last september. Everything was fine except they found out that my husband has some moderate factor infertility secondary to low motility. They recommended that we undergo IUI and we actually did last month. I just finished the 2ww and i got a BFN! And last night i got my period. I dont know how to explain it but I read threads of people that had been in the same situation but unless you experience it yourself, you can never really tell the pain and dissapointment that comes with a negative test. I am very dissapointed right now. Is there any chances that it will be better next time? I had 2 good eggs and my husbands count after the wash was pretty good but it still did not work and it sucks! I tried to call my infertility doctor's office yesterday and today to inform them that I got my period and to possibly schedule another appointment and I havent heard from them. It is just making me more agitated because I want to talk to my doctor and discuss with him what other steps can we take that would increase my chances of conceiving. Any success stories for second timers anyone?

I got my first BFP ever on my second IUI (after 10+ years of TTC. I took clomid and then did an IUI. There is a very great sucess rate with IUI after 4 cycles. Everything went great on the first cycle we had great number and evreything. NO luck. Then on the second we had 1/3 the numbers and they were not as good quality. I got my BFP and I am having triplets. Call first thing monday and start your second cycle.

My ob-gyn suggested that DH and I look at getting an IUI as the next step...and then he told me that it increased the odds of getting pregnancy that month from 10% to 25%. We are getting nailed with major car repairs right now ($2000 after spending $1000 on new tires) and I just can't afford such a high price on the IUI to only improve my chances 15%.
There are some amino acids that your DH could take that might help his numbers (L-Arginine is a biggie). I know that there are products like FertileAid and Fertile Blend that are supposed to help too. I don't know how much or if they do help, but its something else to look at which might help whether you do IUI #2 or not. I'm really sorry to hear that you got your BFN. We've been trying for 19 Months now and are just getting to the point where I'm thinking we might try other things. I recently stopped using Flo-Nase which was reeking havoc with my CM, so I'm hoping that that will help. Best of luck and I'm glad you found us! :) Laurel

Thank you guys for giving me some hope. We decided to go for another round of IUI and this time my doctor said he will put me in clomid and injectibles and probably a back to back IUI. I am crossing my fingers that it will be better this time. I am also supposed to undergo an HSG and I am scared about the whole procedure. My doctor warned me that it can be painful. Have any of you did the same thing? Was it really bad?

my HSG wasn't painful. Dont sweat it. Take a midol or advil before, or wait till after to take it. I took after bc i had mild cramping. It wasn't painful. feels a lil weird, they fill you up with a balloon, pump the dye in (mine was reddish purple) and mine made me roll side to side to make sure my tubes were open. Its no big deal- don't sweat it!!!
GL!

Infertility problems are so hard to deal with, but you are utterly not alone, and I'm so glad you've found this site, I've used daily strength for a couple of variations on the same issue and it's amazing the support from other people who care about you and from their own stories.
I'm sure you will find the right way to move ahead, just be patient with finding your own resolve as fertility quests are not as fast moving as we all want them to be. xx

Hi and welcome. Really glad you found the site. I've been a member almost 2 years. These ladies have helped me through some of the worst times and been with me to celebrate the best.
I wanted to give you some hope. Like you we dealt with male factor (as well as my inconsistent ovulation). We spent years of our married life waiting for it to "just happen". I finally broke down and went to an RE and began the testing process. The journey was long and painful at times. It took over some months. I managed to find things to laugh at along the way and tried everything we could to improve our chances. We did Clomid, IUIs, injetables and 2 cycles of IVF in toll. We even had one miracle along the way and got a BFP on just Clomid and timed intercourse, but I m/c at about 6 weeks. It was heartbreaking but we continued on. It was so frustrating, especially dealing with the male factor because my treatments were working (sometimes too well -- I made lots of eggs some months). My husband was such a trooper, eating organic, getting acupuncture, taking meds, dealing with my craziness on various meds... there was so much more I can assure you. Well, I know that sounds like a bleak road, but after all of this I am now 11 weeks pregnant! The first time I heard the baby's heartbeat all of it didn't matter. Everything we did was worth it. I hope that your journey is much shorter than ours was. I hope that you don't have to face many disappointments before you hear your little one's heart beating. I do want you to know that in the end, whatever challenges you over come, it will have been worth it. Good luck!

I am very sorry about the BFN. It is hard, very hard. And you are right, only people who actually experience it first hand could ever really understand what it feels like. I am glad you found us. So many of us stumbled across the site while doing research of some sort or another related to IF.
It is very possible it could work next month. Do you know what his numbers were post wash? I believe the statistics for couples who do not go through fertility treatments is about 20% chance each month of getting pregnant. So it is not unheard of for the first or even second IUI to not work. But, it does for many couples and it could work for you next cycle. I wish you the very best of luck!
