Well, since I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, I've joined that suport group. I really dont post there much as I cant get past this one but I saw something that caught my eye and wanted to share.

There's a member, a man, who is type 1 diabetic and explained that he and his wife has issues TTC. He said they tried for a couple years with no success. So finally they went to a fertility clinic, did IVF and now have a 13 month old!!

Does anyone have diabetes and had issues TTC!!!

" From what I've read there can be a link between some types of diabetes and fertility. Since hormones are affected it makes sense. Are you using medications for it? Do you think the meds could be playing a role too? "

" YES there is a connection between diabetes and IF. If your glucose A1C is to high it may stop you from ovulating. I am a type two diabetic and my IF issues were not connected. I did IUI to get my three and think that maybe you should talk to you dr. about your concerns. MY glucose A1C was only 4.2 (which is unheard of in a diabetic) and I still was not getting pregnant. Your dr. will be able to answer a lot of these questions for you. If it is your diabetes... maybe that will make it easier to fix. "

" Thanks for the responses. Being a newbie to Type 1, Im still trying to find out what's gonna cause problems during IVF since I didnt get diagnosed until after my IVF cycles!! It's so weird....My AIC was fine when I had b/w done prior to starting IVF, no signs/symptoms, nothing.

Lioness~ Yes, I take 2 different insulins. One med I take with each meal 3x/day and the other I take 1x/night. And I didnt start taking that until after IVF. I have yet to see how the combo of insulin and IVF meds work!!! Kinda scary the more I think about it. "
