I am having my retrieval tomorrow at 9:30 and I am very nervous. I don't know what to expect and that is not sitting well with me. I've been knocked out when I had an endoscopyn and my wisdom teeth out, but thats it. Is it the same? Does it hurt? How do you feel after? Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ladies:)

My doctor gave me a "twilight" anesthesia. I was awake but dont remember much of it. It did not really hurt during the procedure but I had a TON of cramping after for about a day or so. Overall it was not that bad.

I am right behind in with the ER, but I did have IV sedation when I had a polyp removed last year (at my RE's office). The sedation was actually quite nice. It was like the most amazing cat nap I ever took. Then I went home and had lunch and slept some more.
I do understand from a few others that you feel bloated and crampy after, nothing too terrible. Good luck. Hoping and praying for you.

I also had the "twilight" drug - it was called Fentanyl. You're awake and aware of what's going on, but your memory is really poor for the procedure. Basically you're kind of stoned (for lack of a better word!) so it isn't that scary. I unfortunately started throwing up about an hour after the procedure as a reaction to that medication and that lasted all day, yuck. I didn't have any cramping that Advil couldn't take care of, I wasn't in much pain at all. Good luck!

I was totally knocked out. They put in an IV and then give you a drug to make you relax and then they give the anesthesia. You wake up shortly after and they give you pain meds to take home. I did have lots of cramping and felt overall bloated. It lasted about 3 days getting better each day. I was really constipated after as well.
Overall it wasn't a big deal. You just have to keep the big picture in mind and know that it's all going to be ok. Best wishes to you!!! We're all here for you!!

I had a sedative which knocked me out. The procedure from what I was told lasted only about 20 minutes. I was quite sore that evening and the next day. Dont worry you'll be able to deal with it. I really am actually straining to recall how bad it felt (my ER was on 05 June) so it couldn't have been all that bad.
Good luck.
