Ok, first of all, we have basically been ttc our entire marriage... (4 years) But never with any DR help, or drugs. Just the old fashion way... Really we should say we weren't trying to prevent it. But now it has come to the point to where we really want it to happen, so I have went to the DR for some help. (I did go about 2 years ago, and was given medroxysomething, and clomid, and it didn't work, but we didn't pursue anything else)
Well I just went to the DR yesterday. She gave me Prometrium to start my period, since I have not had one since April, (and they are always irregular like that) She also gave me clomid to take once my period starts. And then on the 22 or 23 day of my cycle, I am supposed to go in to the office and have a blood test done to see if I ovulated, and she is also going to check my thyroid at the same time. Just a little further info about my situation, I have had ultrasounds done, and they don't find anything abnormal, I just rarely have periods. but when I do have them they last for over a month always. I have never kept track of them, because they last so long.... Anyone else have experience like any of this? I am new to all of this relatively, and could use all the help and support!!! Hi and welcome. This is such an amazing an supportive place. Glad you found us.
Like you I spent the first few years of my marriage just sort of expecting to get pregnant, never pursuing anything. My periods were pretty regular, except I could never get BBT charting to work. It turns out I had PCOS, and irregular ovulation or periods are common with that. In addition to that my husband was tested and found to have issues as well. Like so many of the women mentioned I would suggest getting fully tested before starting any treatment. If you want, you can read my journal entry from my first visit which outlines a really great protocol. It's dated 1/14/08. Good luck. If you ever need to talk or vent I am here.
