"Weak" Ovulation after Stillbirth

Hi Ladies,

I lost my baby at 26 weeks in January and haven't ovulated since, that I know of. The cause of the stillbirth was unknown, though we didn't opt for an autopsy. My cd 21 progesterone levels have been low. One month 5.6 and another month when using acupuncture and herbs it was 9.6, so, somewhat close to normal ovulation. We were able to conceive our stillborn son naturally on the 4th try. I don't think I was having anovulatory cycles then. I know a woman who conceived without assistance, had a stillbirth and was never able to conceive again. It was nearly 30 years ago so I know there's more help now. My concern is that the trauma has been so deep that I might not be able to ovulate without medical assistance. This is my 2nd cycle trying using acupuncture and herbs. It's been 3 months but we took one month off to "cleanse stagnant energy from the reproductive organs," and to hold a proper funeral for the baby.

My question to you is, do you think I should try clomid? I feel torn about it. I would like it to happen by just using acupuncture, like I'd somehow feel better about the pregnancy, but I'm also tired of waiting and was so close to having a living baby, that I just want to be there again, now. What are the draw backs of using it, in your experience?

" You may want to see a specialist before taking clomid. They can figure out why you are not ovulating. If you are actually having ovulation issues vs follicle producing issues then Clomid may not work for you. Clomid just makes you produce follicles, not necessarily ovulate.

With any medication there are draw backs and side effects. With clomid I had killer headaches, mood swings, uncontrollable hunger and it also caused cycsts on my ovaries and did not allow my lining to get thick enough for implantation. Granted not all of those happened all at the same time or on every cycle. But between the 4 months we tried clomid that’s what I experienced.

Good luck to you. "
