Does anyone know if your thyroid is messed up will your RE stop your cycle until u get put on meds for it and the lvls worked out?
i have been trying to deal with someone at my REs office and its driving me crazy because i can get a clear answer from her. Suppose to start my iui/donor cycle next month but i know i have a thyroid problem and i have not been on anything for it. I would like to get that worked out while i am waiting. but she is talking about starting my cycle now to get the blood work done. ARG Posted on 08/08/12, 07:30 pm |

i don't know if this will help but my girlfriend got diagnosed with HYPERTHYROIDISM and was told she had to have radiation therapy to kill them off so she would go into HYPOTHYROIDISM and would not be able to ttc for 6 months after treatment... That said when at first they suspected her of being hypo to begin with the dr. recommended her going on medication for 3 months before commencing to ttc... hope this helped and good luck

I recently was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. You do have to get your thyroid levels back to normal before starting an IVF cycle. For hyper you can go on PTU medication and should be ready in 6-12 weeks for IVF. For hypo there is another drug and I believe its only 4-8 weeks for normal levels to return. I wish you luck and message me if you have any questions

I have hypothyroidism. I was on a low dose of meds and went through my last IVF cycle. As soon as I got my BFP the RE asked when the last time was I had my levels checked and it had been a while. I was still really low, so they have adjusted my meds and retested a few times. It didn't stop my cycle though. I think it depends on whether you have hyper or hypo. But I would still have your RE check your levels and get you on some meds if possible before your cycle.
Good luck.
