Need to know if it is something you would pay for.

Hi Girls!

I have a question... after everything that I experienced with Infertility... I felt that there was a real element missing between all of the clinical stuff and then all of our family and friends that hadn't experienced Infertility that were TRYING to give me support, but didn't always say the right things...

I am thinking of starting a life coaching business with one of the niche markets being infertility. Had you not found Daily Strength, would this be something that you would pay for - one-on-one, extremely responsive support to get you through every cycle?

I would offer the following:
o Receive empathetic and compassionate, emotional support
o Learn from my personal experience - male and female factor infertility
o Discover tools for stress management
o Receive grief support
o Find support for pregnancy after loss

Is there anything else that someone would like to see on the list as an offering? I so appreciate anyone that takes the time to respond and gives constructive thoughts. Thanks!

" I think it sounds like a great idea as there are so many women out there who struggle alone. I know that was me for quite a while before I found DS. You may also want to discuss different treatment options and what all the "lingo" means. The dr's try to explain it so that you understand but you may not understand what an IUI entails or what IVF really is or even what a SA is. You could offer information packets so that people can do their own research and help them make informed decisions. "

" that sounds just like what i was discussing with a friend the other day. I felt like there needed to be a LIVE daily strength!

just make sure there's no baby photos in your office, and any employees you have refrain from talking about kids.

thats such a sensitive thing. I feel like this service should be in an office/therapist like setting. You might want to look into if you have to have a therapists license or degree to do this. That's what stalled me on this idea.

There should definitely be something like this in every city. "

" I'd pay for it. I know I would go if I heard about it but I don't know if it would be something I would spacifically seek out so I'd just make sure there was ALOT of advertising so that everyone will know about it. I would talk to local churches see if they would mention it see if you could advertise as local OB/GYN's and RE's, ect. "

" Ok... with the last two posts I should clarify a few things. One, I have a Master's degree that has a concentration in Human and Organizational Development so I have that to leverage. I am not looking to be a therapist... I am working on my certification to be a life coach; however, life coaching itself is not a regulated field and at the moment does not require any sort of certification or licensing. But I am working on that as I think it is important. I want to provide support to others since I have already walked the miles so to speak.

I have a marketing plan with targets to acquire the business.

My question is would this be something that you might consider paying for... AND with the service offering that I listed in the initial message is there anything else that you would like to see provided. Thanks for all of your assistance in advance! "

" One more thing... this is not something that I would have an office for... coaching is predominately done via telephone, email and skype. However, should someone prefer to meet, I would certainly make the accommodation. "

" i think it is a great thing.... i have a masters in health ed, and health coun. my only conc. doing this outside of a clinic is the money..... so many people are struggling to come up with the money to do ivf and iui's .... i remember a woman on DS who had a yard sale to come up with the money........ but i am so sure there is a market for it..... when i really got into infertility i belonged to a group on fertiltiy friends.... they saved my life and sanity.... i am still close with those women...... we all lived in massachusettes so we were able to get together, it makes such a huge dif. to have the support of those who are going through the same thing.... " I think the hard thing about doing something like that via e-mail, telephone, etc. is that there are places like DS that gives the support needed through those avenues. The health care system that I am a part of has an infertility support person. This is a free service. She works right out of the RE's office so for the most part she is available whenever I need to talk to her. They also offer a mind body for infertility course. This was a six week course that was held at in the conference room at the hospital I go to. This coures was also free. I know other places charge $600. for this course and people pay for it. I'm not sure I would but it's nice to have the services for free.
Good luck trying to decide what to do :) "
