supplements (and a little venting)

Hi- I am newer to the group- I had a misscarriage 2 years ago and have been trying hard since to get pregnant- I have endo and PCOS and have had two surgeries to take out adhesions- I have tried IUI 4 times, 3 with Clomid and 1 without- last time I had 2-6 follicles and my husbands numbers were amazing- when I took the preg test and it was negative i was crushed- My husband and I had talked about making this our last try because of the stress/cost/side effects- but with the wonderful numbers I thought for sure that everything would work- so as I was trying to get over the fact that we might not be having kids (the next morning in fact) my boss announced that she was preg (after trying for 1 month!!!!)- so it kinda rubbed salt in the wound-
i was hysterical at home that night and my DH said that if it was really important to me we could keep trying (next step is inj's) but I have decided to try a few month of just taking supplements and going off the hormones- but this long ranbling story is to ask you ladies besides the pre-natals, what else have you guys tried? I am also starting to take chaste berry also- I have some book but they are vague and have sooooooo many restrictions on everything in your life- I am cursed with very bad, long-lasting migraines and also read that long term NSAID use can lead to infertility too- is there anything that to can take without it being a no-no!!! so anything help with the supplements/herbs would be great
thanks
Andrea

" I read the Infertilty Cure book and got in that diet and did many of the supplements. We really started to feel great. I didn't get pregnant on my own, still needed treatment, but it finally worked.
I took Q-10, tons of antioxidants, green tea, royal jelly, etc.

Best of luck! "

" Well, it's not considered a supplement, but I swear that eating "YoBaby" yogurt by Yoplait helped me get my bfp. I have endo and did 2 years of injectibles w/no success. I read somewhere that adding just a little full-fat dairy to our diets could help improve fertility. I can't stand milk, so I figured I'd try yogurt, and the "YoBaby" was the only kind I could find that was full-fat. My sister laughed at me when I told her, but she started eating it and right before starting clomid, found out she was pregnant.

(BTW - my bfp was "au natural" - no injections - just a healthy diet and moderate exercise.)

Good luck! "

" Well, that depends on what you want the herbs to do. Vitex (chasteberry) can help regulate cycles and possibly help you ovulate. Evening primrose oil can help with cycles and cervical mucus. Saw Palmetto is good for fertility as a whole. Agita yam or Cassava root is supposed to help with ovulation but it is next to impossible to find. Wild yam can be good for fertility but you need to read about it and take it correctly or it can have the opposite effect. I drink FertiliTea. It has a blend of many herbs that promote fertility. I have also used natural progesterone cream which you should really consider since you have had a miscarriage it can help to sustain a pregnancy if the egg is fertalized. Here are a few more of the herbs I know but haven't tried or know why they work. I'll put a * by ones I've heard of working.

For Women:

*Red Clover
*Red Raspberry leaf
Black Cohosh
*Dong Quai
False Unicorn Root
Licorice
Siberian Ginseng
Maca
Flax Seed Oil
*Nettle Leaf
*Lady’s Mantle
White Peony

for Men:

False Unicorn Root
*Gensing
Maritime Pine Bark
*Saw Palmetto
*Vitamin C
*Selenium
*Zinc
*L-Carnitine

Here is a list of herbs to avoid as well:

Barberry Bloodroot
Calamus Cascara
Sagrada Fennel Flaxseed
Goldenseal Juniper
Lavender Licorice Root
Male Fem Mayapple
Mistletoe Passion Flower
Pennyroyal
Periwinkle Poke Root
Rhubarb, Sage
St. John's Wort
Tansy Thyme
Wild Cherry Wormwood,
Yarrow

Hope this was helpful. Let me know if I can help further. "
