After being on the site for a few weeks I still have not seen one mention of Antimullerian hormone(AMH) as a guage for ovarian reserve. Has anyone else's RE done or suggested one? Is mine the only one doing them?

" i have heard of this. they only test for this when they fear a woman is/has entered or is about to enter perimenopause. they do it to check if she has any eggs left, and if they are of a good enough quality to conceive.

when a woman is born, she has as many eggs as she will have for the rest of her life, inside her ovaries. when you run out, you cant create more. i am sure it is just a test to make sure you dont waste any time with IVF or whatnot, in case you dont ahve any eggs left, and will end up saving you time in the long run.

ill keep you in our prayers,
*hugs*

" I had the AMH test done about a year ago and mine was 0.8. Apparently that is pre, pre-menopausal according to the RE I saw. That's not good news since we're still trying to get pregnant. "

" The AMH test is still controversial, and the jury is still out on the validity of it. Some REs use it, but not all. It is one way to get an idea of your ovarian reserve.

I had the test a year ago, did not get great results. My new RE (a year later) said there are a lot of variables, including the lab that does the testing.

Hope this helps. Good luck to you. "
