Advice:
Glumetza

My RE gave me a new med called Glumetza to replace Metformin. I am not diabetic (she keeps re-affirming this) and I don't have POCS. I am not sure why I am on this or what it does? But whenever I pick it up from the pharmacist they always talk to me as if I were diabetic. I am getting tired of explaining to strangers that I am not diabetic.

Is anyone on this? What do you think about it? What does it do???? And how can it help our fetility issues?????

" well, i know that Metformin is for insulin resistance. where your body doesnt properly metabolize sugars so your body over compensates by making too much insulin, this in turn causes you to have heightened androgen (male hormone) levels. this prevents eggs from becoming mature, and in some cases keeps you from ovulating. i dont know any reason a doc would put you on these drugs unless you had PCOS caused by anovulation. " If you were having any intestinal symptoms with Metformin (for Diabetes Type 11 or PCOS) then your Dr. would switch you to Glumetza to lessen gastrointestinal upset. I know I was on Glucophage XR for 6 years and developed severe problems when ins. co. switched me to Metformin (cheaper). Now my dr. has put me on Glumetza for Diabetes Type 11/PCOS symptoms. Have you had your thyroid levels checked? Low thyroid can cause trouble with getting pregnant.
