Would even suggest that! What the hell. You are considered a minor until 18 for a reason... I remember back at 14 16 and so on and I was so young and naive. Are brains do not stop growing until we are 25 years old, so besides the point anyone even as an adult if they say NO it means NO

I am shocked at this author who is supposed to be a child abuse advocate.In her attacking Elizabeth Smart she is pretty much saying that unless is rape by force.A minor "likes it" and is willing and no longer a child...

Sorry do not mean to trigger anyone.I was triggered by this.I was abused before 5 but also at from 12-14 a lot.......

14 is still a child and needs to be protected no mater what.
Sure she may be learning to explore her body, but thats what 14 is about innocent exploration.

I find this article extremely disturbing.

For a child abuse advocate to attack as she has under the guies of Alethea ( Greek for truth) is again disturbing. First it is my understanding ES had a great deal of therapy. Secondly, all survivors understand that denial has many stages and faces. We all understand denial - (which is part of what i think is goin on with ES - i have followed ES since this all began). But setting aside all the arm chair analysis, I can't help but wonder why Aletha is so triggered by ES and her comments. ES's comments can be interperputed in several ways and it seems to me Aletha has narrowed her opinion to the far left of center so to speak. I had not seen this site before now and i am not impressed base on this one article, but i am going to look into further.

A lot of what aletha has said does not make a lot of sense to me. She does not seem to understand that recovery is a life long process and i have little doubt ES will evolve how she feels over time and in time may have a totally different view than she has now. I think ES has a tremendous message of hope for all survivors and it not important how we feel or interpurt her message. She is a survivor who shines a light in the darkness for many. She is a pretty special person.

I think it is repugnant.

Has this so called expert never heard of Stockholm Syndrome?

She was a child and is a child at 14. She had been brainwashed to believe she was happy and that she wanted to be there. That is the only way she could have survived emotionally.

Did not mean to upset anyone but it really upset me too.

When you are 14 everything is so confusing.You do not know heads or tails of anything and can fall prey to predators in a heart beat.

It doesn't matter IF ES had begged for sex even at 14.is still rape and she was very mucha victim.

Very upsetting.I mean a lot of victims at that age react.Their bodies do.
The victim of Roman Polanski, male victims too....At that age everyone is a child.

i've read this as well --- this is very sick, what an outrage!
let me just say this though. I was taken in by a 'group--wont say who' and told to do 'numberous things' and that I would be forgiven ahd healed from the trauma!
well I tried to years with them, following them but it didnt help me. and the more I tried the more I felt like I wasnt good enough.
this story of hers sounds so simular to what this 'group' was trying to do to me. just saying ----
