I am looking for a males point of view, yesterday my husband and I found out he can not have kids, he doesn't want a sperm donor as it will not be he's child. is this a common point of view with men? or is this just my husbands view? confessed!!! Posted on 06/24/08, 08:06 pm |

He made need a little time to get used to the idea that he is sterile.
Was having children a mutual goal when you decided to get married? How badly did he want to father a child. Unless you both equally want to commit your lives to supporting and raising a child for the next 20 years, he probably is not going to go along with any option.

i'm sorry you're dealing with this. what's impoertant here is how he feels and how you feel and how you you both comfort and accomodate each other. try not to think about what is "normal" or "typical." your husband (and his feelings) is the only man you should learn more about.
good luck.

Reply #2 makes a lot of sense to me. I agree it really depends on your h's feelings only. Also reply #1 had a good point. If you didn't talk this over thoroughly before you got married then you sure should now. Myself if I really wanted kids I would probably go for the sperm donor after I had time and comfort and understanding from you to get over the fact that I could not father a child myself. I think that if I really wanted kids I would be content knowing that at least it was your child. However I am the type that did not want any kids. So what I think you have to take with a huge grain of salt as they say.
Good luck and I think you will find the answer you really need from your husband.

this is foolish thinking. adoption is always a possibility. there's much more to family than just genetics. biological heredity is way way overrated. maybe he just doesnt want kids.
