Hiya guys hopefully someone can give me some advice. My daughter is 15 months old and since the winter and indtoducing solids (at about 8 months) has had chest infection after chest infection and although is on a dairy free diet always has diarrhoea and doesn't put on weight. In the last 3 months she has had Croup, bronchiolitis twice and recently pneumonia for which she was hospitalized in HDU twice. My doctor has said she has asthma which would explain the wheeze and breathing difficulties but why does she keep getting infections?
She was recently admited to another hospital and they tested her IgA which was 0.15 but i'm not seeing her consultant for another 6 weeks and am unsure of what this means. Any Advice would be most helpful Many thanks Flower x Posted on 06/02/09, 06:06 pm |

Sorry to hear your daughter is having so much trouble.
It definitely does sound like an immunodeficiency. At least IgA deficiency by her low numbers. There are about 120 immunodeficiencies that the doctors have identified so it could be more than just SIgA (selective IgA deficiency). My advice is to keep pushing your doctor. You will need to see an immunologist to determine diagnosis. You may want to find your local immunodeficiency foundation to help locate a doctor that is familiar with immunodeficiencies. Try this: http://www.primaryimmune.org/resou...#pid Good luck, K.
