I was just wondering if anyone who is IgA deficent has trouble keeping their Iron levels up. It doesn't seem to matter what I do or what i eat, my iron levels keep bording on anemia, which in turn makes me feel tired all the time and everytime I have to take iron tablets it upsets my stomach. Is there anyone who has the same problem or can maybe suggest something to try.

Cheers Pam

" Hi Pam:

I've had intermittent problems with anemia. So as a precaution I take a liquid iron product called "Floravit" by Salus. Since it's liquid there is no bad after taste and it is easily absorbed by the body. Personally I've never had tummy troubles from it. It's quite tasty but if you don't like it you can mix it with juice.

I was also thinking that you may feel tired because your body is having a harder time fighting off infections. I find if I have something I'm fighting (cold et al) I'm bone tired.

People with immune system problems due have issues with fatigue. I think it's part of the disorder. When I was really sick a few years back I was so, so, bone tired all the time and was starting to think I had chronic fatigue. Instead I got the diagnosis of IgA deficiency. My energy picked back up after clearing up the underlying infections that I had. Candida was a big problem for me which coincidentally is often cited as a probable underlying cause of chronic fatigue.

Or putting it another way our systems have problems fighting infections, we can't clear the infection yet our bodies keep fighting until we are totally and utterly exhausted... tired army... fatigue.

Does this make any sense?

K. "
