a bunch of questions

Hi! I'm 22, and I've got a pre-op appt for a hysterectomy Nov 5th. Yay! I guess there's still a chance the doctor could back out, but I hope not, and I'm starting to do my research like the doctor will actually do the surgery. I've got a bunch of questions, mostly because of my PTSD and stuff that sets me off.

1. Is it true they shave you down there for the surgery? Are you awake for that? Can you do it yourself?
2. Do they really make you do bowel prep? My poor stomach can't handle drinking the crap they made my mom drink for that! (Different kind of surgery for her)
3. Is it true they don't allow people in when you're recovering? I have a service dog, who never leaves my side, I'd need her while recovering. And I'll need my mom so I don't flip out.
4. Once they're done with the surgery will they let you change your own dressings if you know how?
5. I won't let anyone that isn't my regular doctor touch me down there, how much of a problem is that going to cause?

I don't want to ask my doctor these things because it was hard to find a doctor to do the surgery and I don't want her to back out because she thinks I'm crazy. If anyone knows any answers, it would be super helpful.
