I had my hysterectomy a year ago, before that I had a couple of D and Cs, which lead up to my TAH. I was fine with having the procedure because I was such in pain, it was affecting my career and raising my daughter.
My husband, soon to be a ex, told me after a few weeks after my hysterectomy that he was fine with it, we could adopt more kids, then in Jan. while drunk he told me that he didn't want me because I had "nothing" down there and he wanted more kids. I want to know does having a hysterectomy affect my vagina? Did he do this to just hurt out of spite? Help! Advice plz! Can't get over his words. Posted on 10/13/09, 04:10 am |

medically speaking ONLY, if you had the cervix removed, then it shortens the length of it, maybe by an inch and you may have some dryness.....but, that's it! nothing else and this is according to my OBGYN surgeon who just did my total, abdominal hysterectomy on 9/2/09! I have NO IDEA what you're H is thinking or meaning to say---HE is the only one who can answer that question. IMO, it was a hurtful comment he made while under the influence. He may not even remember saying it. Regardless, if you can't shake his words and it is upsetting you so much, if I were you--I would sit him down and have a serious and calm conversation with him about it all....while he is sober, of course. Uhm, and you DO have female anatomy "down there"!!! =)

What a complete butthead your soon to be ex is!!! YOU are so lucky he is going to be your ex!!!
I have to say, though, that men seems to lack sympathy and/or are scared about what's happening to their significant other. I've been married 22 years- had my TAH two years ago and emergency surgery two months later- and my husband is a NICE guy- but he was an ass more than once before/during/after my surgeries- assuming things that were wrong- listening to other people who had had similar surgeries and thinking I was MILKING the being sick thing! He thought I should've been better faster- no sympathy for me- just NOT understanding how to BE THERE and be supportive for me. I was so alone, felt so pitiful- but at least he didn't really feel like my PARTS were going to be that different. I did have a lot of issues with my vaginal cuff, so I had to go without for a long time- and the length of my vagina seemed shorter- but I don't think it really made a difference. Don't let anyone tell you you're less than in any way for any reason.

Noneareleft,
I ABSOLUTELY love your response. Some men can be such--------(choose an adjective of choice). I am in too much pain and incensed by her ass of an ex's comment. His fingers can be his lifetime friend:-p
