this may sound like a strange question but its been playing on my mind i live in stoke on trent and i am waiting for an appointment for a hysterectomy what i want to no is do i need to shave before the op as noone has said anything about this or is this done when you go in for the operation

" hi! no need to worry about it since it is done the night before or once your already inside the operating room.mine is done inside the operating room. OR nurse will be the one responsible for it. "

" goodfaith is right or you can do some of it yourself. I did it the morning of my surgery before I went to the hospital. I didn't totally shave everything..lol. I kept some up top just down below I made sure I was clean of any hair. I didnt want anyone doing it but me. This was for my laps I had done but either way they still have to go in vaginaly. good luck!! xx Staci "

The hospital or doctor should give you instructions on what to do the last few days before your surgery anyway, so no worries..... lol

" Do not shave yourself UNLESS told to do so by the pre-op nurse at the hospital. Reason being, you run the risk of nicking yourself and infecting the surgical area. They will take care of shaving you IN the OR as a part of your surgical prep. "
