Tomorrow will be 4 weeks since the surgery! Im doing relatively well but Im still very uncomfortable. 2 weeks ago I went to the doc and he told me all was going well, but still dont over do it. So I dont,no swimming, driving, cleaning the house nothing. I do take walks.
The problem with that is I feel good before taking the walks but later on when just trying to relax the pain comes. It is so uncomforatble at that point I dont even know what to do with myself. I also bloat up when this happens. Keep in mind Im not on any kind of pain meds and truthfully I think I should be that is how bad it is. The doc feels I dont need it!!! I think I do. I cant drive and still depend on my sister, she feels Im being a baby. that I shouldnt hurt so much. The pain is real and I just dont know what to do is it all in my head? Should I call the doc again? Is something wrong? At this point I dont think anything is wrong, Im just annoyed at myself for hurting!Any suggestions on what to do.I have tired tyenol, tyenol pm, benadryl and nothing is working any ideas of what to do? I had a total abdominal hysterectomy with ovary's removed on Feb 27 of 09 due to endo. I am still in pain to this day. It tok me a long time to heal from my hysterectomy. I asked for pain meds into my 3rd week but after that I didn't ask. I was reading about pain meds and there was an artile that said most women only go up to the 3rd week and you should start feeling better. It was the worst pain I ever felt when I was in recovery but I was on narcotics for a long time before my surgery so I was warned about it before I went in. I complained to my gyn about still having lower back pain and pelvic pain and this was at my 6 week check up. I was told there is nothing left inside me and he couldnt help me any further. I am now seeing another gyn (3 months after my hysterectomy) and he is an endo specialist as well. I wish you the best of luck and if you are still having really bad pain you need to call your Dr. It's not in your head and dont give up till you find some one who will listen.

Hi there, This Thursday will be 2 weeks that I've had my surgery so really my situation probably doesn't compare. But I do worry. I go back to work 4 weeks after my surgery, and you say that you're still feeling pain? I've been feeling daily pain since sept-08. I'm starting to think I have nerve damage. I have a pretty nice and understanding doctor, but when I'm in pain, I become a you-know-what :), so yep I'll be demanding my pain-meds after 3 weeks if it's still there. I'm not a drug addict; I wish these doctors would stop treating some of us as that. I no longer take xanax (was getting panic attacks from the lupron), so that proves I'm TRYING to get well on their terms, by weaning off the drugs. Good luck to the both of you. and BTW, tylenol and anti-inflamatories (naproxen, ibuprofen) DO NOT work for me. It's unfortunate, but withoug vidodin or percocet, I would not be able to function. "Managing" my pain is just too difficult.

You know the funny thing is I was only give pain meds when I was released from the hospital, since then only tyenol. That doesnt work for me. When I spoke to the doc's assistant they will not prescribe anything else. Informed me that there is nothing that I can do but just take it easy!! Which is just plain silly, if I take it easy any more I would be in coma!! The assist. told me since there is nothing left inside me,all the other organs are trying to find there place. Yes I understand that but jeezzz Im uncomfortable. I am also worried about going back to work,Im on my feet all day and I am nervous about how that will have an effect on me.

I don't really have any great advise for you, but just wanted to give you some encouragment.
I'm 7 weeks post hyst/delivery now and the difference in pain from 4 wks to now is huge! I finally feal like myself again. So give yourself more time, I know it is soooo frusterating. I mowed the lawn with a push gas mower at 4 weeks...yah that was smart..talk about pain later... so hang in there Why can't you drive? Just wondering. I've been driving since the day after I got out of the hospital..no one said not too...

Justcasey.
You mowed the lawn? wow!!! I wouldnt dare lol. The doc gave me a list of things not to do, and driving was one of them.. He said my reflexes probably wouldnt be that great and all the movement with the legs while driving is not good for me. So I havent driven at all.I truely cant wait to feel like my self again, it gets old not being able to do anything. I have such fear of hurting myself and going back into the hospital I follow his directions to the T. Im so glad you are feeling better!!
