Advice:
Bladder Infection?
Watch this

I had my hysterectomy 16 days ago. I just finished a round of antibiotics for a suspected bladder infection. The pain is worse than before I got on antibiotics. Does anyone think this is a bladder infection and I need different antibiotics or could it be something else?

" My doc did a follow up UA which was clear, she might have done culture too.

The bladder can become very upset post surgery, sometimes a muscle calming med helps (overactive bladder) but I hated the side effects, instead just dealt with it drinking lots and waiting for my bladder to retrain itself and calm down. I have heard this spasm/soreness can last 3 months, mine subsided at about 5 weeks.

Best to you. "

" Make sure your doctor actually checks you for a UTI(urinary tract infection) and not just treat you for what he/she THINKS is a UTI. They should do a urinalysis, a urine culture and sensitivity and a CBC. If they do not do those and gain a true diagnosis they may be treating you incorrectly and as you may know, you should NOT take antibiotics when it is NOT needed for a bacterial infection. What type of symptoms did you report to your doctor and what tests were ordered? "

" I still am having on-going bladder problems since my operation 12 weeks ago....
I was tested for a bladder infection 3 times and tried different pills as well, even tho I told my doctor that I knew it wasn't an infection he didnt believe me anyway..... I know what they feel like and this wasn't one...
He finally believed me, tried me on a bladder relaxant which didn't do anything either..., and now I'm on a waiting list to get an ultrasound at the end of Oct, and a referral to a urologist/ gynecologist ...... Hope that your pain resolves itself faster than mine is?
