I had a full abdominal hysterectomy two years ago but today i have what appears to be the worst period pain i have ever experienced in my life. Has anyone else had this? If so what is it, and can i take something for it? I have to be careful of my other meds.

my mother in law had the same thing she said they told her it was scar tissue that was causing the pain...but i also have a large incisional hernia just below my wound. So it could be coming from that too...im not sure.

That is true. The more surgery's you have the more scar tissue you will can have and it can be very painful. I had scar tissue removed from my intestine. Right side. it was just discomfort all the time.
I had a lap for exploratory and dr found scar tissue so he removed it.

Hi there - I had a full radical hysterectomy where they removed everything including cervix about 11 years ago. About 6 years ago I developed what I thought was apendix pain, it was so severe. It localised low down on my right side of where my womb would have been. I couldn't straighten up or anything. I couldn't even press on it, it was so painful. I went to GP who referred me for a scan and it turned out to be scar adhesions. I had been taking Tibolone HRT at the time. The reason I needed the hysterectomy was because of severe endometriosis and the doc said that possibly the HRT was causing slight growth of the remaining endometriosis on the scar tissue.
I switched HRT and thankfully everything settled down and (touch wood) I haven't been bothered with it since. I think you probably are experiencing much the same - just some scar tissue or scar adhesions caused by the surgery but ask your GP to refer you for a wee scan and they can put your mind at rest. Take care x
