" Hello! Well I had a tumor the size of a grapefruit and my uterus was full of them too. Some people have other tumors, cysts or fibriods. I assume the uterus and ovaries can just go bad. They can casue a tremondous lose of blood each month. When a boby part goes bad it can casue alot of problems that you would be surprised. Even something as simple as headaches. recovery takes awhile. The first few days are rough but then it gets better and even boring for awhile. As long as she listens to her dr she will be fine. They should give her pain pills to and she should use them. Hope this helped a little bit. nina "

" It is great that you want to know about what your mom may experience. Be proud of yourself for that!

I have 4 adult children and they wanted "basic" information. One daughter has been there through thick and thin with me since I had my surgery. She is somewhat upset with her siblings for not doing the same.

The best advice I think I can give is just be there for her. She will let you know what she needs. "

" Different women have them for different reasons. My Mom had hers at the age of 42for medical reasons, bad pap or other I don't remember. I had mine in January 09 at the age of 47 due to excessive menstrual bleeding and abnormally long cycles. Doc said it was because I had an abnormally larger uterus, the size of a 7 month pregnant woman. I wasn't pregnant either. Due to the size I wasn't a candidate for uterine abalation. I still have my ovaries and will still go through memopause just will no longer have monthly cycles and can't get preggars. "
