cold pain in hand and arm

I have had cold hands and feet since diagnosed with Hashimotos Disease back in 2002. Lately my left hand gets so cold and it travels all the way up my arm and the pain is terrible. I can't seem to get any relief. I'm taking Ibuprofen for it and wearing gloves. The rest of my body is hot. Anybody else have these symptoms? I've recently had my levels checked and they were normal. Thanks for any help.

That seems strange though I nothing would surprise me with this disease...I would definatly ask your doctor. Are you getting circulation to the limb?

I've told him about the hands, but this is new. Freezer cold type pain shooting all the way up to my shoulder. I go back to my internist Dec. 2 and back to my endocrinologist middle of Dec. Maybe somebody can help me. This disease affects almost everything in our bodies from what I've read.

I assume there is circulation. My hands are not blue. The pain is different from any I've had before. Like I've left my entire arm in a freezer for a very long time. Wrapped a heating pad around my entire arm last night and almost burnt my arm. Heat didn't seem to help the pain. Finally had to take a pain pill and went to bed. Will be seeing doctor in a couple of weeks. Gonna try to hold onnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.

I wouldn't wait too long if it persists. I was thinking this could also have to do with nerves.Have you felt any back pain at all? Even if not, its possible that you have a pinched nerve in there. Like I said though, I really would try and get an earlier doctors appointment if at all possible that just doesnt seem normal and besides I am sure you want to start feeling better. I can only imagine that this would be painful and highly annoying!!!

I went to my massage therapist and he worked on my entire arm and shoulder for over 30 min. He said it was all balled up and when I left that day my arm was 95% better. I still have cold hands, but as you well know that goes with hypothyroidism. Thanks for your response. It always helps to talk with someone who truly understands this disease we have.

Hello
I would keep seeing your Massage Therapist. I am a Therapist, and I have the same problem sometimes. Sounds like some pinching of nerves. A Therapist cant release muscles in one session, sometimes it takes up to six weeks. What do you do for a living....continious motion sometimes balls up the muscles. You might work on some stretching 3 times a day, if you sit at a computer its very important to take a break and stretch every hour. I like to take a tennis ball, and put my back to a wall with the tennis ball in between and roll it between the shoulder blades. also a Apple cider vinegar bath would help to loosen muscles, get rid of stress, and detox you. 2 cups of Apple Cider Vinegar, in bath water, soak up to the nape of your neck for 20 minutes....if you do not like the smell, add some bath salts (lavendar) to calm you. It is also good for the hair, makes it shiney. No need to rinse off the vinegar, it evaportates. Hope this helps. Huggs Colleen
