Hi,
I am new to the group and I have been reading some discussions. We all seem to suffer quite a lot from this disease. My first symptoms of hypothrodisim were severe fatigue and a painful lip swelling. I went to the doctor since the swelling episodes became more frequent. Shorthy after this i was diagnosed with hypothroidism (hashimoto's kind). The endocronoligst put me on synthyoid and I was told that my symptoms would disappear. He was right for several months. The energy came back, swellings stopped until 2 weeks ago. My energy level is low and the swelling (they call it chronic urticaria) is back and it is more vicious. Initially, had had to put me on cortisol pills to reduce the inflammation. He also suggested that I see an allergy doctor since this seemes more like an allergy reaction (yy T4 and TSH were normal by the way). He also told me that some thyroid patients start suffering from allergies because of the antibodies present in the body. The allergy doctor I have been seeing says the same thing...he says this is happenning because of hypothroidism. he put me on several allergy pills to create enough histamines in my body to fight the triggers. So far (10 days) nothing has worked and I have been continuously swelling (accompanied by burning and itching) . he says next step is to change the pills for stronger ones...I am quite discouraged at this point. I am thinking about changing my endocronlogy doctor and start seeing one specialized in thyroid disorders. I am having a hard time to accept the situation and i am thinking perhaps the synthyroid is not working for me. Have any of you suffered from chronic urticaria and angiodema? What have you done about it? Blessings, Posted on 10/31/09, 12:10 pm |
