Does anyone else ever feel like they are starving?

I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism (after being first misdiagnosed by my old family doctor, whom I'm no longer seeing) and I was wondering if anyone else has been encountering the same effects as I am. That is, feeling like I just can't eat enough. No matter how much I eat (I try and eat a lot of fibre and protein as I was told these would fill me up) I just end up feeling like I haven't eaten for a month. I have been told that my ravenous hunger could be caused by this or that I might possibly be diabetic. I did have blood tests done which showed both a underactive thyroid and diabetes but the doctor wants me to go for another blood test to verify the diabetes. What other side effects of the hypothyroidism have people experienced? I was feeling soooo bitchy, so depressed, no energy, and I just wanted to sleep all the time. Are these really normal side effects with hypothyroidism or is it just me?

" Hi DaisyBlu,
You have found the correct place to find out more about your Thyroid problems than you would care to know. And I want you to know that the "fog" will lift.

Be deligent with your medication regime. Keep educating yourself and your Dr's about how you are feeling so that they can help you find the right balance.

Unfortunately weight gain is what a lot of us experience as well. I gained about 20lbs and could barely get out of bed do anything about it. I had to give myself permission that it was okay; FOR NOW.

Now...my medicine is working for me, along with my vitamins and strict discipline in my diet, I am loosing the weight, I have a personal trainer that I see 3x's a week. I push myself & she pushes me more. I'm also taking a wonderful liquid vitamin that has "rescued" me & keeps me from reaching for so much caffine.

It's gets better. Hey , I still have my days where I feel as if I cannot move, or I crash as soon as I get home. But hang there and we are here for you. "

" BikPumpkin ~ do you still have trouble getting out of bed? That is my biggest problem. I've been taking synthroid for about 2 1/2 weeks and I feel better but I still have days where I don't want to get out of bed. Is that normal in the beginning? Will it go away? "

" Hi TRIXIE...
U have only been on your synthroid 2 1/2 weeks. Give it time so that your Dr can make sure that uR on the correct dose for U.

Sometimes I still struggle w/getting out of bed, tho not as often now. I must say that I feel like the young pre-hypo me.

I am strict about taking care of me... and it pays off. Everynow & then I start feeling like the hypo me & when I do... I rest. "
