" HI Sunny Shannon -
it is nice to hear that someone else (besides my sister) feels both symptoms too! it is absolutely baffling to me, and the doctors are or no help.
have you found anything that seems to help you? does the doctor help at all or just give you a sympathetic look?
i take organic suppliments which really do help, but are pricey.
would love to hear more from you.
thanks "

" I have hashimotos also. I am told i am hypothyroid and take meds for it, but I believe I have bouts of both. I dont really get too much help from the doctors, they say my labs are fine (yeah then why do i feel like crap all the time) I asked my surgeon to remove my thyroid as its just a lump of tumors and nodes and he said no. " Hi There - thanks for posting and nice to meet some people out there that DO feel the same way I do. Thanks for posting!

Does anyone find that their peaks and valleys follow the seasons, cycles and/or any other pattern? I personally find that the holidays are extrememly touch and can notice a huge change in the month of December alone?

Also, does anyone see a holistic doctor? Any thoughts if you do?
Thanks!! "

" Yes, yes JessiG. Stress is the absolute worst for me...now 5 years after my diagnosis I just feel as though I cannot focus on things the way I used to be able to. I live by notebooks and to do lists.
I am going to try to read the books by the Shames again and see if they can help.
Do you also ride the Hashi Roller Coster?
After the stress abates, the exhaustion come in like a freight train. "

" Hey, I also have Hashimoto's, I was diagnosed around six years ago (when I was 13) and have been going to the endocrinologist at least yearly since then. My doctor tells me that my TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) levels haven't ever been too high or too low while in the office for them to give me medicine, but she tells me it inevitably will be (probably once I get a little older).

Anyways, the reason you feel both highs and lows is because at different points in the day your thyroid is producing either too much or too little TSH.

As you probably know Hasihmoto's is a condition where the immune system recognizes the thyroid as a foreign body, and as such attacks it with the intent to remove it from the body. Because of this at some points the thyroid is inflamed and not functioning fully (hence a low) and at other times it is producing extra TSH to combat the attacking immune system (hence a high).

I don't know of anything to take that helps you out, but as a childhood cartoon once told me, now you know, and knowing is half the battle : )

Hope that helps some, sorry that I don't know anything to help (other than expensive synthetic thyroid hormone replacements however). "

" Hello,I am new here and I too have Hashimoto's. It has caused a goiter to appear and my dr is talking about removing it. Not sure how I feel about that. I have been told that I have hypo and I am on Snythroid. The drs have not able to level my tsh levels out but they keep trying. "
