I've been losing a lot of hair and I know my family line doesn't have any history of baldness. Can low levels of testosterone cause this? I'm a little afraid to do what was recommended to me, which was to take supplemental steroids. I'm afraid that the additional testosterone may inadvertently be converted to DHT and increase my hair loss.

Hi and welcome:
Thyroid disease will cause hair problems. Low Iron/Ferritin levels as well as low B-12 and Folic Acid can cause problems. Consider checking these levels to find out. Some people find that supplementing with Biotin may help. Here's an article explaining what vitamins/minerals deficiencies can do to our bodies and hair loss. http://healthychristianliving.com/... Take care... :-)
