" hi. i am relatively new as well. i am on 50mcg of synthroid. my levels seem to be better but i dont feel that great. i'm tired all the time, but i cant sleep, and i have gained weight recently when I had been the same weight for about 8 years. I would suggest making sure you take your medicine at the same time every day, watch what you eat, and try to get some exercise. "

" hi, i'm an old hand at this but still not stable. i'm now on 125 levothyrxine. check what YOUR practitioner considers to be normal test results. much contoversy about the parameters. if you are still not well on the dosage prescribed by your doctor, don't suffer. go back and tell 'em. bon courage "

" welcome to the group....
I am hypothyroid also....it took 4 years for them to add this to my already full plate of health issues....been on Synthroid .075 for 6 months but started at .050 in 2008....I agree with crazyfrog that the so-called parameters are not where they should be because when I was finally DX'd a year ago I had been having weird symptoms for over 4 years but they DX'd it as MCTD/SLE....the meds that they RX'd were not helping....it wasnt until my new doctor DX'd me with the thyroid condition & I started the Synthroid that my symptoms started to gradually disappear....and it has taken just over a year for nearly all the symptoms to leave....my new GP said that I had been tested for thyroid function 4 years ago and that my levels were not within the so-called normal parameters....but noted that my previous doctor had posted that my levels were not low enough to warrant starting me on replacement therapy....soooooo.....apparantly every doctor has their own opinion about the parameters.....my advice to you is to give the RX time to start working 4-6 months before you will notice any difference.....Question....What level of Synthroid did they start you on??.....To nikki32.....the sleep issue will get better....the weight will drop off....give the meds time to work and your symptoms will get less and you will also lose the weight....take care "
