I recently found out I have a thyriod problem, and i've been taking the meds ,and trying to eat right, excersise. But i haven't lost any weight.
I'm also insulin resistant and on meds for that(for years now). So i have two problems, both known to make it REALLY hard to lose weight. Does this just mean i'm doomed to be overweight for the rest of my life? Does anyone have any advice about diet or excersise for someone like me? I REALLY need some guidance! Cause right now it's feeling pretty impossible!

" Add weight training to your exercise routine...it levels your blood sugar.
Also try a high fiber, low calorie, nutrient rich diet. I recommend a book..."Eat to Live" by Dr. Joel Fuhrman. I lost 60 lbs. I eat NOTHING white, no sugar, but still manage to enjoy my food. It is VERY hard to lose weight but certainly NOT impossible!!!! The key is making changes VERY slowly so you are not overwhelmed and quit. I made a change a month...it took a year. I either eliminated a food or gave up a bad habit or added a good one.

Best of luck to you! "

" I combine a cardio workout with a weight training workout for 1 hour 3 times a week - i eat healthily and try not to eat too much "bad" food. I enjoy a drink or two at weekends and have managed to maintain my weight at a good level - i am within a normal range for a woman my height and age.

You just really need to find the right path for yourself.

Good luck!!! x "

" Hey, if you like pasta, cut down or cut out for a wk or so. I did, cuz I like pasta--this is a bad carb. I eat whole wheat pasta, which is pretty good.
This made it eazier to lose weight, for me.
lotsa luck :>] "

" I agree with the above. Add weight training. It builds your muscle mass which increases your resting metabolic rate which = more calories burned from just keeping your body alive. The results are slower to see than cardio, but last longer. When you quit doing cardio the weight creeps back. You will also reshape parts of your body; an added bonus. I was doing tons of squats and lunges and my behind lifted! My thighs became more defined and my arms got "cut'. "
