Okay I was told I had hypothyroidism. So I took a trip to the doctor which happens to be my family doctor for treatment. I ask him about my swollowen ankles which have been this way for years but the bigger they get now the more they hurt... He said it's my thyroid and gave me pain killers for it.... I'm just wondering does anyone else suffer from swollen feet/ankles cause by hypothyoidism?

" Yep. I keep my feet elevated as often as I can. I don't take any medication for the, I massage them often before going to bed.

If it's okay to ask... how's your weight? I know it can be hard for some, including me, so I have to work out to keep my weight down. It can be hard because we are often just so tired, but it's important to try limit the amount of weight that we make our poor feet/ankles carry around. "

" Try also to balance the Free T3 and the Free T4 witin the normal ranges to feel your best at. I tell people to aim for the mid ranges and start working on how they feel. I also elevate my feet too. My RA and thyroid makes it worst. Any other health conditions? Even menstrual cycles from the hormone fluctuations and such makes things out of balance for me.

{{{hugs}}} :-) "

" Your blood test came back...what? Were they "normal?"

I went to several Dr's that did not understand hyPO & did not know what it was. Or they had differences of opinions about what the #'s should be to qualify me as hyPo.

I finally found a Dr that understood & sent me to a top Endocrinology. He this diagnosed me with Hasimoto's syndrome.

Find a Dr that knows & listen. "

I don't even know my opptions... alls I know is that my doctor gave me meds for it and said come back in 6 weeks for another blood draw.... " Lllone57, hope yur feeling better 2day. Getting the meds right is a guessing game, sometimes more than a couple of times.

Is your Dr an Endocrinologist? I saw about 3 dr's until I found someone that understood, my endo is good, (not to chatty), but my meds are balanced, and I feel better.

Hang in there... it will get better.
